Project scope: Verbal identity within an end-to-end rebranding project led by FutureBrand.
Service: Verbal identity.
The context
As part of AP Biotech’s broader rebranding, led by FutureBrand, Nogahl collaborated on the verbal identity component of the project.
AP Biotech is an Argentine company providing technology, equipment and solutions for laboratory research and diagnostics. As the business evolved and sharpened its focus on diagnostics, the rebranding offered an opportunity to bring its identity and communication into alignment with its direction.
Within this wider process, verbal identity played a specific role: defining how the brand expresses itself through language.
The role of verbal identity
A brand’s identity is not only what people see. It’s also what they read, hear and come to recognise in the way the business communicates.
Verbal identity establishes the principles behind that communication: how a brand expresses its personality, conveys its value and maintains a consistent voice across different contexts.
For a business operating in a specialised, technical sector, language needs to do more than describe products and services. It also needs to communicate the brand’s perspective and make its proposition understandable to the audiences it serves.
This is where verbal identity connects strategy with communication. It provides a framework for expressing what a brand stands for, helping its messages feel coherent rather than disconnected across individual touchpoints.
Bringing consistency to brand communication
Within AP Biotech’s rebranding, Nogahl contributed its verbal identity expertise as part of the broader brand transformation.
The focus was on the language dimension of the brand: establishing a foundation for how it communicates and how that communication reflects its identity.
Verbal identity helps create continuity between the strategic direction of a business and the words it uses to present itself. It gives communication a shared point of reference, while leaving room for messages to adapt to different audiences, needs and situations.
A brand is also defined by how it speaks
AP Biotech illustrates the role verbal identity can play within a wider rebranding process.
Visual elements help a brand become recognisable, but language shapes how it introduces itself, explains its value and builds relationships with its audiences.
When verbal identity is developed alongside the broader brand strategy, communication becomes more than a collection of individual messages. It becomes an expression of the same underlying brand.
A coherent brand doesn’t just look like itself. It sounds like itself, too.
